While dreaming up the finishing touches on our most recent landscape project, I discovered Tahama, a one-of-a-kind community just off the coast of central California nestled in the hills above Carmel. The community was dreamed up and executed beautifully by Clint Eastwood. Tehama isn’t offering pre-built homes but rather lots allowing buyers freedom build their personal sanctuary within the community guidelines designed to keep the vibe respectful of the site. Each lot guarantees total privacy and access to the Tehama Golf Course. A handful of lots are still available and priced from $1.5 million to $6.5 million. NBD.
Let’s peek at the first home built at Tehama, a home that sets the tone for the entire community. The architecture is modern with a cantilevered roof acting as a shade for residents. The glass facade and minimal doorways create the sense of outdoor and indoor spaces flowing seamlessly together maximizing the overall expansiveness of the beautiful views.
Nestled under a canopy of trees, this quiet spot must be a favorite for the lucky owners of Tehama House one. Stone walls with lush landscaping, in keeping with the natural surroundings, creates an oasis of privacy. Now I’m on the hunt for pea gravel or crusher fines similar to this which compliments the sage-y green plants and trees. Though we can’t grow big beautiful olive trees like this in New Mexico, we’ve worked to find alternatives that offer a similar look.
Imagine reading in this treehouse of a living room perched above nature. Neutral colors and lots of texture let the expansive view take center stage.
Functional and quaint, this kitchen is utilitarian yet intimate.
Open the doors and climb in to that tub. Could you imagine? All that’s missing is a little side table for a glass of wine. Stone floors and plastered walls gives such a timeless look to this home.
