Hello Friends!! I’m so excited to be teaming up with Balsam Hill and Hallmark Channel (seriously a match made in heaven!!) making the Christmas season extra merry and bright!! Hallmark has been a part of our Christmas tradition for 17 years (how is that possible?!) when we would let each kiddo pick out a Hallmark ornament that will one day be a collection for their own trees. Our other favorite family tradition is to cuddle up on the sofa (find a home tour here with sources) and watch our favorite Christmas movies. With Balsam Hill and Hallmark Channel’s new movie line-up, we have plenty of excuses for cuddles. You only get 18 Christmases with your kids before they leave the nest so make every year count!! One of the best ways to make the years count is by choosing traditions they’ll pass on to their families creating a legacy of memories.
OUR NORDIC FROST CHRISTMAS DECOR THEME
Traditions are such an integral part of the holidays. Another favorite is picking a theme for our tree. This year, we kicked off the holidays pouring over all the beautiful options Balsam Hill and Hallmark has to offer. With the help of my 15 year old daughter, we opted for traditional red, white and silver theme. We were drawn to Balsam Hill’s Nordic Frost Ornament set and while they looked beautiful in the photos, they are absolutely STUNNING in person!! Each ornament is a nod to Scandinavian design, which I’m a huge fan of, and features hand-painted pieces including glass balls, finials and teardrop shapes. The delicate beadwork and hand-painted detail is unlike any ornament set I’ve seen. The entire theme is exactly what our somewhat minimal ‘New Nordic’ interior calls for. Our home is mostly neutrals but I really wanted a touch of Christmas by incorporating the beautiful deep rich red Balsam Hill and Hallmark are known for.
When the tree arrived I was quick to unpack it and it’s even more perfect than having a real tree! Even my husband keeps saying “THAT is the perfect tree.” The Silverado Slim offers True Needle foliage and was so easy to set up. The Nordic Frost Christmas picks added a shimmer of winter while the Red Berry picks add texture, dimension, color and visual interest. Adding the Pinecone Picks gives a winter wonderland touch while the White Glossy Ornament set offers a hint of sparkle and reflection. The tree is simply stunning and the decor fills the space with festive enthusiasm. The tree also comes with a remote, which is super handy! Now the kids can select their favorite, colored lights, while I get to switch it over to my favorite, white lights.
We opted to keep the decor simple this year with the main focus being the tree and a bit of garland here and there for warmth. The Fraser Fir garland truly looks like real greenery and at night it gives off the warm glowing sparkle of Christmas. Keeping the decor simple and neutral in other parts of our home gives the eye a chance to rest making the tree the main focus.
The Silverado Slim tree is the perfect size for the space we had selected for it. Balsam Hill offers every size imaginable so you’re sure to find exactly what you’re looking for. The ornaments were so beautiful I wanted to add them to this handmade bowl we keep on the coffee table.
HOW WE SPEND MOVIE NIGHTS WITH BALSAM HILL AND HALLMARK
With Balsam Hill and Hallmark Channel, all that’s missing is family and a hot cocoa bar! Over the years I’ve been known to go a little overboard in offering a hot cocoa bar that will fulfill your sugar quota for ….maybe the month! How can you watch a Christmas movie without hot cocoa!!?? Creating a hot cocoa bar is simple! Fill up pretty glass jars or bowls with mini marshmallows, sprinkles and mini chocolate chips. Add white chocolate pretzel sticks and of course plenty of whip cream.
HALLMARK MOVIE NIGHTS
We truly enjoyed the movie Christmas Joy that premiered on 11/3 but continues to run (so you won’t miss it!) and features the Nordic Frost Ornament set! Yep, I totally announced to the whole family “Look look!! Our ornaments!!” because it’s pretty awesome to see our ornaments on TV. Christmas Joy was the sweetest movie reminding us to slow down and look for opportunities to help others. Joy Holbrook (Panabaker) is a bit of a workaholic until she has to go home and falls into the task of taking over the ‘Cookie Crawl’. She ends up getting a little help from her co-captain and of course he reminds her, there’s no place like home.
Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane airs on 11/24/18 and is hosted on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel. Hallmark now has TWO channels with movies and an app! Yes, I have been checking off the movies I’ve seen to be sure I get to all of them before Christmas!! The movie features Alicia Witt and Colin Ferguson with Emma (Witt) returning home to celebrate Christmas for the last time with her siblings in the house they grew up in. After their parents recent passing, the kids reluctantly agree to sell the family home on Honeysuckle Lane leaving Emma in charge of the belongings. They discover a hidden surprise and the power of love during the holidays.
Be sure to catch A Shoe Addict’s Christmas on 11/25/18 starring one of my favorites, Candace Cameron Bure and Luke Macfarlane. As Christmas nears, Noelle (Bure) is at a crossroads in her life when she realizes that love, her dream career and a connection with her father all seem out of reach. After getting locked in after staying late at her job in a department store on Christmas eve, a quirky woman tells her she’s her guardian angel. After visiting Christmas past, she looks at her present and future and realizes the only thing getting in the way of leading a fulfilling life is herself! It’s truly a message we can likely all relate to!
Wishing you and yours a joyous and love-filled Christmas!
