This season has been extra special this year. When the team behind Sugar Paper reached out over a year ago asking if I would be interested in lettering for their 2019 collection with Target, well of course I said “HECK YES”!!! When I started my ceramics business, Aedriel Originals, in 2008, I dreamed of the day something I created would be in a retailer like Target. Though I had amazing opportunities in the past (like when Anthropologie asked for an order of my mini cupcake stands….what what??), I started shifting my business to be less focused on production with more of an emphasis on creativity. Lettering gives me this creative freedom and is like a form of meditation. Maybe it seems like I sit down and jot the words down like a shopping list, but it’s actually a process of repeating the same word (or phrase or quote) over and over again until it feels balanced and has the energy I want it to have. I truly consider lettering a form of art and depending on the message, it’s meant to convey a feeling. I know there is discovered and undiscovered talent out there far greater than mine, but my story is a part of me and it’s a journey I wouldn’t trade.
Sugar Paper has built a beautiful brand, one I’ve admired for years, and no one does a holiday collection quite like they do! Their attention to detail, while maintaining simple and elegant designs, has been their trademark from day one. Of course Target is ….Target!!! It has become an icon of our time. The creative team at Sugar Paper took my lettering and turned it into magic. They truly have a knack for knowing what will translate well in the retail market.
Sugar Paper for Target Paper by Nioby Trivett
So many have reached out to tell me their local Target no longer has the Falalalala paper. Your UPS driver would LOVE to bring it to you!! There’s still plenty available online and if you’re quick, it’ll arrive on time. If not, stock up for next year. There are a handful of things that sold out, like the Milk & Cookies set as well as the ‘Merry’ balls but maybe **fingers crossed** this will change.
It’s been so fun to see all of your beautifully wrapped gifts, shopping trips and table displays! You all have been so generous in your support, your DM’s and emails and showing off this collection. I’ve truly enjoyed discovering new blogs and Instagram accounts because of this collection. I wanted to highlight a few of my favorites. It was so hard to choose!
How adorable is Maria? She is crazy talented and I spent a very long time on her website. You will too!
Nioby’s style is elegant and like a long slow exhale. Just browsing all her beautiful photos makes me feel calm. I wish I lived next door to her and I could escape to her place when I’m feeling frazzled. Her aesthetic is GORGEOUS!
I would like very much for Sarah to pop on over and wrap my gifts because she clearly knows what she’s doing.
Sara makes floral arrangements OUT OF PAPER! Yes, those finishing touches on the beautiful boxes are made out of paper. Gaw! Such talent.
This pop of velvet color stopped me in my tracks. I love how festive this feels.
I cannot wait until next Christmas!! ;)
